Electricity cut for homes

Eskom insists on 10% cut for homes. 

Electricity demand needs to fall by 3000 MW otherwise Eskom will start load-shedding again by the end of this month. This target means a reduced power demand of about 10% from both residential and commercial users. While the industry, mainly mines, have contributed significantly to power saving, the residential sector is not fulfilling this demand yet.

A new load-shedding schedule will be available on March 24th.

The power situation is still very tight. High prices of oil and coal are leading to costs beyond control. A 14,2% hike of electricity tariffs has already been approved of by NERSA (National Energy Regulator of SA).
